Whether Ashley is painting or weaving, she is creating a response to the landscape around her.
Often, the materials she uses inspire the aesthetic of the final piece, like how raw raffia intersects with soft wool in a tapestry or the fluidity of watercolor paints as they move around the paper to evoke the petals of a flower.
